Merging Estimates Within Folders

From the My Home tab, you can combine or merge two estimates into one estimate. When you merge your estimates, the new estimate displays in the folder that you performed the merge function. The other two estimates remain in your estimate list. You can merge estimates in a personal folder, a shared folder, or an archived folder.  

 

  1. Click on the My Home link. The Personal Folder - Current Estimates pane displays on your My Home screen.

  2. Select the folder that you want to merge an estimate from. For example if want to merge an estimate from your Personal Folder header, select the personal folder that you want to merge the estimates to. The Personal Folder list displays for your estimate selection.

  3. Select two estimate check boxes that you want to merge into one estimate.

  4. Click on the (Select Action) drop-down list.

  5. Select the Merge action.  

    Note:
    If you select more than two estimates to merge, the following message displays: Two estimates have to be selected for merging.

 

  1. Click on Go. The Merge Estimates screen displays.
     

 

Note: The requires field entries have an asterisk (*) beside the field.

 

  1. Enter the estimate name in the Estimate Name box. The estimate name is an alphanumeric entry of up to 100 characters in length. Most special characters are allowed in your entry. You can not use < (less-than sign) and > (greater-than sign) in your entry.

  2. Enter the client name in the Client Name box. The estimate name is an alphanumeric entry of up to 100 characters in length. Most special characters are allowed in your entry. You can not use < (less-than sign) and > (greater-than sign) in your entry.

  3. Enter the estimate address in the Estimate Address box. The estimate address is an alphanumeric entry of up to 100 characters in length. Most special characters are allowed in your entry. You can not use < (less-than sign) and > (greater-than sign) in your entry.

  4. Enter the city name in the City Name box. The city name is an alpha entry.

  5. Enter the state name in the State Name box. The state name is an alpha entry.

  6. Click on the Save icon . Click Cancel to cancel the merge.

  7. Click on the My Home link. The merged estimate is added to the estimate list on the same folder where the estimates were selected. The new estimate is listed at the top of the estimate list. The two estimates that were included in the merged estimate are included in the list of estimates.

    The merged estimate displays all of the cost lines from all of the estimates that are merged. The estimate total is the sum of all of the cost lines from all of the merged estimates. If the same cost line (same line number) is present in multiple estimates, they are listed separately in the merged estimate.

 

Rules for Merging Estimates

 

Certain rules are used for merging estimates. These include:

 

  1. You can not merge estimates that has different locations (zip code). If you attempt to merge an estimate that has different locations, the following message displays: Estimates with different locations cannot be merged.

  2. You can not merge estimates that were created using different data releases. If you attempt to merge an estimate that has different data releases, the following message displays: Estimates with different data releases cannot be merged.

  3. You can not merge estimates that have different units of measure (UOM). If you attempt to merge an estimate that has different data releases, the following message displays: Estimates with different UOM (unit of measure) cannot be merged.

  4. You can not merge estimates that were created with a different data format (different master formats). If you attempt to merge an estimate that has different data releases, the following message displays: Estimates with different formats cannot be merged.

  5. You can not merge estimates that were created in different estimate types (unit or assembly). If you attempt to merge an estimate that has different data releases, the following message displays: Estimates with different formats cannot be merged.

 

If you attempt to merge estimates that meet the above mentioned rules, one or more of the following messages display:
